On the one hand, because the cells are lighter, and on the other hand, because the smart actually has more power. I find the 36 kWh option, which Vanja is working on next, just as exciting. And CCS would of course be a cool thing too. Let's see what happens next... 
62 to 87 miles is more then just a bit more range, it's a significant increase. 40% in fact. Can that really be true, or were the measurements taken under different conditions?
I sure would like to get this new battery in my smart!
After repairs, my 451 ed worked for about 700km. When the weather got colder(freezing), it would stop all of a sudden, and the display read "low battery power" even when the soc was 70-80%.
Now it will not start, and displays the text"drive sys. Engine off".
It would be nice if they made a"diy" kit for this battery.! Sending the old battery to Croatia for repairs / refurbishing might be challenging?

Maybe a dead DCDC converter? Is the smart still charging the 12 V battery, when it's turned on?

The DCDC converter is integrated in to the inverter
The contactors are not closing any more, so there must be a fault preventing their closure. When the car stopped while driving, the car coasted to a stop smoothly. The last couple of times, it was not smooth, but it shuddered to a stop; would that indicate inverter problems?
